Health and Wellness

Health Insurance

Abbott provides comprehensive health insurance to ensure you and your eligible dependents have access to the best medical care when you need it. Coverage is available from the first day of employment.

The program covers hospitalization and surgery care, a range of outpatient services—clinical and specialist, teleconsultation, mental health treatments, etc. The plan also includes major medical which is an additional support when your base hospital & surgical coverage is exhausted. We believe in providing you with the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are well-protected.

Flexible Benefits Program

At Abbott, we believe in supporting what matters most to you. Our Flexible Benefits are designed to give you the freedom and flexibility to choose the perks that best suit your needs, priorities, and lifestyle. Our Flexible Benefits Program allows eligible employees to choose from a range of health, security, and lifestyle benefits and request reimbursement using allocated flexible dollars in their account through the year.

Dental and Optical

Employee can take advantage of the Flex Dollars entitlement and can request reimbursement for dental and optical related expenses as per eligibility. Coverage under dental includes preventive care, basic and major restorative services, and elective cosmetic procedures like braces and teeth whitening. Coverage under optical includes spectacles, contact lenses, eye solutions, and lasik surgery expenses.

Term Life Insurance

As part of our commitment to care for you and your loved ones, all employees (regular or contract) are automatically covered under our Group Term Life and Total Permanent Disability (TPD) Insurance.

Employee Assistance Program

We understand that life can present various challenges, both personal and professional. To support you during these times, we are pleased to offer our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which includes 24/7 confidential support for you and your eligible dependents. Services include telephonic and in-person counselling, crisis response, work/life resources, and manager consultations—helping you navigate personal and work-related challenges.

Preventative Health Screening

Your health matters, and we’re here to support it. As part of your Abbott benefits, you’re eligible for a company-sponsored Health Screening at no cost to you. You can also choose to cover additional tests under the flexible benefits program.

Wellness Programs

Our wellness programs and resources are designed to promote overall health and well-being. Throughout the year, we host wellness talks to support your mental, emotional, and overall wellbeing. Seminars cover a variety of topics, including meditation and mindfulness, healthy habits, and health talks on specific medical conditions—such as heart and musculoskeletal issues, etc.

We also have flagship programs—such as Exercise Across Abbott—that encourage being physically active, eating healthier and getting quality sleep.

Maternity Benefits

At Abbott in Singapore, we believe in supporting you through every life stage—especially the joyful journey of welcoming a new member to your family. Our Maternity Benefit is designed to ease the financial burden for eligible employees during this special time by covering costs related to childbirth, as well as pre- and post-natal care.

Baby Gift

Welcoming a new baby is a special milestone and we’re excited to celebrate it with you! As part of our commitment to supporting parents, Abbott offers a baby gift to employees with newborns, whether through birth, legal adoption, or step-parenting.

Parenting Support

Our Flexible Benefits Program includes a range of options to support you and your family, especially as you welcome a new member into your life. Leave and Time Off Programs

Annual Vacation Leave

Abbott’s annual leave benefits are designed to help our employees balance work and personal lives allowing to relax and recharge. Leave entitlement is calculated based on the time spent with the organization.

Sick Leave

Your health and wellbeing is important to us. Regular employees are entitled to up to 14 days of paid sick leave and 60 days of hospitalization leave (inclusive of the 14 days sick leave) each year as per need. This benefit is subject to following an established process and requires the submission of relevant documents.

Other Leave Programs

Abbott understands that time off will be needed during moments that matter—so we also offer maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, shared parental leave, childcare and family care leave, marriage leave, compassionate leave, examination leave, etc. Policy and requirements vary per leave type.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

You can build financial strength with Abbott’s programs, making more possible for you and your family through Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Eligible employees can acquire Abbott stock at​ a discount through payroll deductions during two 6-month plan cycles a year. This program helps you build long-term financial strength for you and your family, while sharing in the company’s success.

Formal Education Program

Abbott supports formal education through study grants for eligible employees. The study grant covers reimbursement for tuition/registration fees, course fees, examination fees, and laboratory fees. Terms and conditions apply.

Other Programs

Long Service Awards

We celebrate your milestones. To honour your dedication, Long Service Awards are given to permanent employees upon completing 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years with Abbott. Payouts are made through payroll during your anniversary month as a token of our appreciation.
