Smart Tips For Exam Success
Exams are just around the corner.
Kids are pouring over assessment books and staying up later than ever. As exam stress starts to roll, some children go off food while some may indulge in junk food. Rapid growth and periods of stress during this critical period demands a steady supply of vital nutrients to support optimal growth, health, learning and memory. Healthy children are better learners. The brain needs specific nutrients to help your child process and remember information. Give your child a headstart with GROW SCHOOL®.
There are a lot of beverages your child can drink. Educate and guide your little one to make the better choice. The fact is that kids can be hydrated with a wide variety of smart beverages - all of which have high water content and deliver many valuable nutrients, as part of the daily diet.
Ways To Nourish Your Children
Key Nutrients To Look Out For
- Hydrate well to prevent fatigue and improve concentration. Provide plenty of water, juice, milk and soup.
- Complex carbohydrates and B-vitamins release a steady stream of energy to spark cognition. A serving of wholemeal bread, bun, brown rice, wholegrain noodles or pasta is a must.
- Protein-rich foods sustain alertness during mental activity. Include fish, chicken, lean meat, eggs and milk.
- Choline, a nutrient found in nuts and eggs, supports overall mental functioning.
- Iron provides support for the body's red blood cells and energy production. Sources include lean red meat, fish, chicken and green leafy vegetables.
- Include healthier fats. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty cold water fish like salmon, mackerel and tuna, as well as nuts and seeds, bolster cognition.
Healthy Meals Matter
- Provide a variety of food choices from each of the food groups - grains, fruits, vegetables, meat, beans and milk.
- Ensure regular meals, especially a hearty breakfast. Breakfast improves concentration and test scores.
- Prevent spells of sagging energy with wholesome snacks like fruits, nuts, sandwiches and milk.
Exercise Body and Mind
- Encourage exercise as it releases happy hormones to relieve stress and optimise physical and mental performance.
- Set a time-table to cover assignments systematically. Focused study time helps kids complete tasks with ease.
- Ensure adequate rest and plenty of sleep. Sleep helps to relax your child, consolidate learning of new information and improve focus.
