Holidays are meant to be a fun and enjoyable time but some parents often feel stressed when bringing their kids along for a family trip. They constantly agonise if the child would be able to take well to travelling, if they have packed everything their child might need and even if their child will have fun. Parents of picky eaters have additional worries. Children who cannot adapt well to a new environment could lose their appetites and usually do not eat well. But, with the right preparation, you and your kids can have a great time together with lots of fond memories to last a lifetime!

Do your homework

A little bit of research can put you on the right path when it comes to choosing a suitable destination and planning your trip. A good kid-friendly accommodation can also have activities for kids to keep them entertained if the weather keeps your family indoors or could even provide nanny service should some parents need a short romantic time-out!

Pack right

Apart from remembering to pack essentials such as wet wipes, a medical kit, sun block and even nappies, bibs and bottles for younger children, it is always a good idea to pack entertainment for your kids. Small toys and children’s books can go a long way in keeping kids happy and prevent them from being bored especially on long flights. A familiar cuddly toy can also help your little one feel at ease in a strange place and act as a bedtime buddy to help ensure he or she gets enough rest during the night.

Just in case

Be prepared for the unexpected bouts of diarrhoea or vomiting when travelling with your young child, bring along a box of Pedialyte® Freezer Pops to quickly replace fluid and electrolytes lost during diarrhoea and vomiting. Re-hydrating your child during such times helps to prevent dehydration.

Ensure your kids are healthy too

Some children do not adapt well to new environments or take well to new foods of a different country. This could cause them to lose their appetites and not eat well. Bring along some healthy snacks they are familiar with so that they can nibble when they are hungry. Pack a nutritional supplement such as PediaSure Complete® along with you to provide your kids with all the essential nutrients they need when they are picky or not eating well.

Even if your active growing child is adapting well to the holiday destination, remember to moderate his intake of sweet, sugary snacks and carbonated drinks. To ensure your children still have their daily dose of a nourishing beverage, pack GROW® (for children aged 3 years onward) or GROW SCHOOL® (for children aged 6 years onward), a delicious and nourshing beverage to bring along for the holiday trip. This will help ensure your kids continue to get the vitamins and minerals they need.

When your kids are well nourished, they will have the energy they need to fully enjoy their holiday!

PediaSure Complete®, GROW® & GROW SCHOOL® also come in convenient single-serve sachet Handy Packs, perfect to meet your child’s holiday needs!
