Doctor's Profiles

GERIATRICS


Dr Chan Kin Ming graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1983, and subsequently obtained his Masters in Internal Medicine in 1988. In 1991, he obtained his Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow. In 1993, he was elected Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.


He set up and headed the first Geriatric Centre in Singapore at Alexandra Hospital in 1994 and in 1998, he was also appointed concurrent Head of Department of Geriatric Medicine at Changi General Hospital and Senior Clinical Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore.


In 2000, he left to set up his own private practice at Gleneagles Hospital, and recently, a second clinic at Mt Alvernia Hospital. He is currently Visiting Senior Consultant Geriatrician to Singapore General Hospital, Changi General Hospital and various Nursing Homes. He is also the Executive Chairman of Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital and listed in the Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare (2004) - a recognition for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their own fields of endeavor.


ENDOCRINOLOGIST


Dr Kevin Tan Eng Kiat is a Consultant diabetologist and endocrinologist in private practice at Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre. He is also visiting consultant to the Diabetes Centre at Singapore General Hospital and runs the Diabetes in Pregnancy clinic at Thomson Medical Centre. Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore and is a fellow with both the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine in Singapore.


Dr Kevin Tan helped organise and set-up the Weight Management Program at Mt Elizabeth Hospital. This program is headed by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors and adopts an individualised and multi-pronged approach in weight management, employing services of nutritionists, exercise physiotherapists and psycho-therapists.


Dr Kevin Tan is currently Vice-President of the Diabetic Society of Singapore and a life-member of the Society; as well as with the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore. In the Diabetic Society, he heads the Education Sub-Committee and has been at the helm of the organising committee of World Diabetes Day Singapore events for the last 6 years. He is a keen diabetes educator and active on the lecture circuit to both professional and public audiences locally and in the region, lecturing extensively on diabetes, thyroid problems and other hormone issues. His interest is in diabetes and pituitary-adrenal disorders and his research interest is in clinical trials on diabetes.


OBSTETRICS


Dr Mary Yang is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. After graduation in United Kingdom, she returned to work in Singapore and did post-graduate training in the United States. She resigned as a Consultant and Senior Lecturer from NUH and NUS 10 years ago. Since then she has devoted her time to patient care in the private practice. Her main branch is at the Gleneagles Medical Centre. Dr. Yang also has branches at Yew Tee and Bedok. Her patients span from teenagers to women with menopausal problems. She has of course helped to bring many new lives into this world.


PAEDIATRICS


Dr Lim Kwang Hsien is a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist. Upon graduating from the University of Sydney with honours in 1997, Dr Lim returned to Singapore and started his training with children at KKH Children Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He obtained his post-graduate degree from the National University of Singapore and Royal College of Pediatrics and ChildHealth (UK) in 2002. His interest is paediatric gastroenterology, growth and nutrition. Outside work, he voluntarily helps out in Club Rainbow - a charity organisation for chronically ill children. Dr Lim has recently joined Kinder Clinic and is based both at Siglap Centre and Mt Alvernia.
