  • When am I eating? Look at the timing of meals and how often you are eating

Even though carbohydrate counting offeres flexibility in food choices, choosing healthy foods should always be a priority regardless of the approach you choose.

Useful tips for dining out

Eating out and enjoying the variety of food Singapore has to offer is a big part of our lives. However, eating at home and maintaining blood sugar control can already be difficult, many people are intimidated at the notion of dining out. It is possible to eat healthily and enjoy your food, yet have control over what you eat.


  • Know the ingredients in your food and portion size
  • Eath the same portion that you would at home
  • Ask for any extra food to be packed in a doggy bag to bring home
  • Ask for condiments, sauces or dressings to be served on the side so you can control how much you use
  • Eat slowly
  • Choose foods that are baked, broiled, poached, steamed or stir fried more often
  • Limit the amount of fried and high fat foods
  • Try not to avoid whole food groups at a meal unless you are saving your carbohydrate for a small dessert
