Completed in April 2008, the nutritional powder manufacturing plant in Singapore is Abbott's first major capital investment in Asia and its largest nutritional investment ever. It is also the largest investment in a nutritional plant in Singapore to date by any one company. Abbott has invested S$450 million (US$280 million) in the facility that enables the company to meet the increased demand for Abbott nutritional products in the region.
The plant is a fully integrated facility for the production of powder nutritional products. Key unit operations include wet processing, evaporation, spray drying, blending and packaging. The plant also has extensive laboratory facilities and applies state-of-the-art process control systems and enterprise planning systems.
Ground breaking took place in May 2006, construction was completed by April 2008, and the plant is now fully operational.
