Abbott is building a nutritional powder manufacturing plant in Singapore. It is Abbott's first major capital investment in Asia and its largest nutritional investment ever. It is also the largest investment in a nutritional plant in Singapore to date by any one company. Abbott is investing S$450 million (US$280 million) in the facility which, when completed in 2008, will enable the company to meet the increased demand for Abbott nutritional products in the region. The plant will be a fully integrated facility for the production of powder nutritional products. Key unit operations include wet processing, evaporation, spray drying, blending and packaging. The plant will have extensive laboratory facilities and will apply state-of-the-art process control systems and enterprise planning systems. Ground breaking took place in May 2006, construction will be completed by April 2008, and the plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2008. Abbott Manufacturing Singapore Mission Statement
