Abbott Participates In ComChest Heartstrings Walk 2011 @ Marina Bay

On 22 May 2011, about 200 Abbott staff and their families took part in ComChest Heartstrings Walk 2011 @ Marina Bay, a 4km walk for charity presented by ComChest Singapore.

Held on a beautiful Sunday morning, the Walk commenced at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, where PM Lee Hsien Loong, the Guest-of-Honour for the event, led 5,000 participants with a mass warm up before the flag-off.

The participants continued their walk on the Helix Bridge, bringing them to TheFloat@Marina Bay, otherwise known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform. It was the first time for most of us to be the floating platform, and many of us were probably not aware that this is the world’s largest floating stage!

The Walk brought us past iconic landmarks like the Esplanade, The Merlion, One Fullerton, and Customs House, and allowed us to soak in the developments in Marina Bay in its full glory.

The walk has instilled a sense of satisfaction and camaraderie among Abbott employees and their families, who raised $2,100 for the Walk. Overall, more than $1 million was collected, and the funds raised will benefit about 300,000 people including children with special needs, youths-at-risk, persons with disabilities, lonely and frail elderly and families in need.
