Operation Discovery
Operation Discovery is a notable example of Abbott's long standing commitment to "Turning Science into Caring", this signature program is a global education initiative that focuses on students and teachers in the middle-school years, leveraging Abbott's expertise in innovative research and development. Since its inception, Operation Discovery has brought together over 2,000 students and 500 Abbott scientists globally, for a day of hands on education.
15 Abbott scientists hosted 45 secondary school students for a day of real world scientific learning for this year‟s program. The day long event on Friday, 16 September 2011, was held at Abbott's state of the art nutritional manufacturing facility in Tuas, Singapore. Our scientists serve as mentors and role models, guiding the students through hands-on lab experiments using the same tools and procedures that Abbott scientists use in their daily work. A plant tour further demonstrated how Abbott applies innovative solutions on an industrial scale to manufacture high quality nutritional products.
Through Operation Discovery, Abbott lives out our Corporate Values of "Caring" – by providing a unique learning experience to students in our community, and "Enduring" – doing our part to inspire the next generation of scientists in Singapore.
