Safeguarding Singapore’s Environment
Abbott and Abbott Singapore have a longstanding commitment to minimize our impact on the environment —in our sourcing of raw materials, in manufacturing and distributing our products and in the ways consumers use and dispose of them. We strive to be good stewards of the earth in every product that we make, in every service we provide and in every market that we serve.
In Singapore, we are implementing several initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, including programs to conserve water. We take special pride in Abbott Manufacturing Singapore's new environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, designed to meet rising demand for our nutritional products throughout Asia, while providing maximum environmental safeguards here in Singapore.
Our new AMS plant received a coveted Green Mark Gold award from the Singapore government's Building Construction Authority in recognition of the plant's outstanding energy efficiency, its cutting-edge water recycling, its use of sustainable products and materials, its sitting on reclaimed land and its accessibility to public transportation.
In addition, Abbott Nutrition recently announced the opening of its new Asia-Pacific Research and Development Center in Singapore, where our scientists are leading research and clinical trials in such areas as food and sensory science, clinical nutrition science, novel ingredient evaluation and cognition science. Abbott also recently opened its first Southeast Asian pharmaceutical research and development site at Singapore's Biopolis. Our work at both these centers is accelerating the development of new treatments and nutritional products to advance human health while adhering to cutting-edge environmental practices and policies in keeping with our commitment to be good environmental stewards.
