Clean & Green Week @ Abbott Manufacturing Singapore Private Limited

Abbott Manufacturing Singapore Private Limited (AMS) held its very first Recycling Week from 2nd – 6th November 2009 in conjunction with the launch of Clean & Green Singapore 2010. The campaign aims to inspire everyone to care of and protect our living environment by adopting an environmentally-friendly lifestyle. It also aims to instill individuals with environmentally-friendly habits.

To spice up the event, a friendly competition between the various Departments was held to identify the team that would contribute the most recyclable items. The judging criteria was weight of contributions. Updates on the weight of the recyclables was sent via email each day to all employees of their team's current standing. Competition was intense especially on the last day when 1152.6kg of recyclable items were brought in!

AMS staff did a great job to help to save the environment! Countless stories of effort were heard - some individuals accumulated their recyclable items the week before and some even came to work earlier than usual to avoid squeezing on the bus with the recyclable items.

In total, AMS collected 2030.4kg of recyclable materials. The entire effort was a great success especially since this was the first time that such an awareness program was held. This success has encouraged the organizers to run environmental awareness programs at AMS in 2010.
